The Great Ocean Rescue
The Great Ocean Rescue
Did you ever wonder if there was a team that saves the ocean? Well, there is one called SeaWatch! They also created a program called "The Great Ocean Rescue."
In my fourth grade class, we are studying about the ocean. We are using this system called The Great Ocean Rescue. In this productive program, the teacher divides us into groups of 4 or 5. Each group secretly tries to solve some missions. For example, the first mission my group did was: The Fishin' Mission. The mission: SeaWatch has special underwater incubators that shelter baby animals. The incubators release the young animals where they will have a good chance of survival. Our problem is that a "ghost" net has entangled in one of the SeaWatch incubators and drifted away. It's your job to find out where it has been dragged. Once you locate it, you must then complete its mission.
In my group, there are 4 people. I am an Oceanographer. Oceanographers determine the currents of the ocean and the salinity of it, too. Tony, in my group, is a Geologist. Geologists look for information about the ocean floor. Ashwin is an Environmental Scientist. Environmental Scientists study the water cycle, ocean pollution, and tanker routes (the routes that ships usually take). Finally, Noah, also in my group, is a Marine Biologist. Marine Biologists are supposed to study the food chain, primary production, and high productivity.
This program is very fun. While you have fun, you also get to learn a lot about the ocean. I hope you try it sometime!
My Digital Footprint
I want to leave behind a positive digital footprint. Therefore, I will do the following:
- No personal info, e.g. telephone number, last name, address
- I will stick to the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, fairness, and compassion
- If I would be embarrassed for my parents to see it, I won't post it, text it, or send it
- Only use the school computer, on the school network, for school stuff
The Most Important Thing I Learned This Week
The Most Important Thing I Learned This Week
The most important thing that I learned this week was how to add fish to my blog. You go to layouts, and add fish. Another important thing I learned this week was different math strategies in Math Enrichment.
What I know about Mixtures and Solutions
What I know about Mixtures and Solutions
A mixture is 2 things mixed together to form a group of things. A solution is a special mixture formed when a material is dissolved in water. They are clear and cannot be separated with a filter.
When you evaporate salt and water, the water gets evaporated but the salt does not. The salt has nowhere to go, so they join up together (the salt) and form a large crystal. Sometimes the crystal has an X on it, which means it is sea salt. But it is poisonous if you eat it! Always wash your hands after you are done with an experiment.

See? It's transparent, squarish, and has Xs!
Salt and water combined is a mixture because 2 things are mixed together: salt and water. It is also a solution because when salt and water is mixed, the salt dissolves.
If you put an ice cube into root beer, it creates a mixture of solid, liquid, and gas. You can only see gas on smoggy days, but if you trap air in a bottle, close the lid, and wait, you might see gas if there is enough air trapped.
Book Report About Warriors: The Darkest Hour, #6 of the Warriors Series
Book Report About Warriors: The Darkest Hour, #6 of the Warriors Series
Hi, my name is Kenneth, and I am here to give a book report for Warriors: The Darkest Hour, #6 of the Warriors series.
The main character in this book is Firestar. He is a handsome, ginger tom cat. In this book, Firestar is a noble, brave, but curious leader of ThunderClan. Firestar is curious beacause in pages 87 and 88, this curiosity actually makes him a good and smart leader. He told the clan about Darkstipe, and evidence that he was a traitor, and all of his curiosity payed off when he discovered that he he was actually right; Darkstipe was a traitor to ThunderClan! If you want more surprising and action-filled stories, read this book! I have to admit it, the Warriors series is the best series that I have ever read!
