The Great Ocean Rescue

The Great Ocean Rescue

Did you ever wonder if there was a team that saves the ocean? Well, there is one called SeaWatch! They also created a program called "The Great Ocean Rescue."

In my fourth grade class, we are studying about the ocean. We are using this system called The Great Ocean Rescue. In this productive program, the teacher divides us into groups of 4 or 5. Each group secretly tries to solve some missions. For example, the first mission my group did was: The Fishin' Mission. The mission: SeaWatch has special underwater incubators that shelter baby animals. The incubators release the young animals where they will have a good chance of survival. Our problem is that a "ghost" net has entangled in one of the SeaWatch incubators and drifted away. It's your job to find out where it has been dragged. Once you locate it, you must then complete its mission.

In my group, there are 4 people. I am an Oceanographer. Oceanographers determine the currents of the ocean and the salinity of it, too. Tony, in my group, is a Geologist. Geologists look for information about the ocean floor. Ashwin is an Environmental Scientist. Environmental Scientists study the water cycle, ocean pollution, and tanker routes (the routes that ships usually take). Finally, Noah, also in my group, is a Marine Biologist. Marine Biologists are supposed to study the food chain, primary production, and high productivity.

This program is very fun. While you have fun, you also get to learn a lot about the ocean. I hope you try it sometime!
